Proud to share that New Dawn, the light object we initiated and developed for Milano Design Week, is now featured in ELLE Decoration. And congratulations Aga Blonska on your first ever publication in this prestigious design magazine!

When I invited Aga to design New Dawn for ROOTS Exhibition’s ‘Last Supper — From a Different Perspective’ presentation, our studio’s aim was to push design forward. To rethink materials, support emerging talent and create objects that give back to the soil rather than take from it.

Together with 3DMZ | 3D Makers Zone (David van Rijn & Merel van Loon) we brought the research and prototyping to life, achieving a world-first: the first large-scale 3D-printed object made from PHA, a fully compostable biopolymer created by microorganisms. No toxins, no microplastics — just a true return to nature.

In Milano, New Dawn rose above our 12-meter Last Supper table like a fragile, glowing beginning — symbolizing the shift from consumption to regeneration.

At Studio Simone van Es, we will continue to foster designers who dare to rethink materials and design for renewal. Seeing New Dawn photographed at The Frozen Fountain in Elle Decoration feels like the perfect continuation of that story!
